There have been a total of 9 live-action Spider-Man movies. We’ve seen him go up against iconic villains such as Green Goblin, Mysterio, Vulture, and many more. However, Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery is so vast that there are a ton of villains who haven’t even been referenced yet. Here are 5 Spider-Man villains who haven’t been in a live-action Spider-Man movie.
5 Spider-Man Villains Who Haven’t Appeared in a Live-Action Spidey Movie Yet
- Mr. Negative
- Black Cat
- The Enforcers
- Chameleon
- Hobgoblin
1. Mister Negative
It makes sense that Mister Negative hasn’t been in any of the earlier Spider-Man movies, considering that out of everybody on this list, he is the one who was most recently created. He was created in 2007 (for reference, Spider-Man 3 came out in the same year). However, in the 19 years since his creation, Mister Negative has quickly become one of Spider-Man’s coolest villains.
He has a sort of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing going on, although they don’t bicker and quarrel with one another as much as Hulk and Bruce Banner do. However, the thing that is really interesting is that he has the power to mind-control people. If Spider-Man: Brand New Day wanted to go with a different villain instead, they could’ve gone with Mister Negative.
2. Black Cat
It’s very surprising that this character has yet to make her live-action debut; I would go as far as to say that she’s the most popular Spider-Man villain who hasn’t been in any of the movies yet.
If the name wasn’t a dead giveaway, Black Cat is a cat burglar who often gets tangled up in Spider-Man’s webs. She loves the thrill of living a life of crime, but she’s not a villain in the same vein as the others on this list. Black Cat is more than fine with just sticking to the shadows, robbing rich people blind, and going unnoticed. She’s not out to murder a bunch of people or take over the city.
Plus, she often steps up to do the right thing when it really counts, showing that there’s more to her than just being a run-of-the-mill cat burglar. This complex character deserves to be in a Spider-Man film, and hopefully, we see that sooner rather than later.
3. The Enforcers
I don’t know if this is cheating considering that the Enforcers are a group of people and not just one person, but I like them, and this is my list, so they’re getting added. What I like about them is that this trio of people- Montana, Fancy Dan, and Ox- don’t appear to have any superpowers. They don’t have any fancy tech suits. They just show up and kick ass.
They don’t have a deep and personal storyline with Spider-Man. They’re criminals, and they like money. There’s something refreshing about having characters like that.
Of course, I don’t think they have enough pull to ever be the main villains of a live-action Spider-Man movie, but it would be nice to see them be the enforcers (ha) of the main villain. I think that would be a perfect role for them.
4. Chameleon
This is definitely cheating considering that he has appeared in live-action form before. However, it was for the movie Kraven, which most people have never seen, so I’m choosing to ignore it.
Besides petty robbers and normal street criminals, the Chameleon was the first real villain Spider-Man ever encountered; he made his debut all the way back in The Amazing Spider-Man #1. He has the ability to quickly change his entire appearance and take on the persona of practically anybody he chooses. Compared to the other villains that Spider-Man routinely faces, his ability doesn’t sound all that impressive.
I like it, though. That cat-and-mouse game that he plays with Spidey is always interesting. The Chameleon can be anybody at any time, and since Spider-Man can’t just go around punching anyone who seems remotely suspicious, he has to use his wits to figure out who the Chameleon really is. This villain brings out a different side of Spidey that I would like to see more of.
5. Hobgoblin
We’ve already had a Green Goblin in 3 different live-action Spider-Man movies, and he’s always amazing. But instead of doing that again, why not go with a different goblin instead? Someone who’s familiar and unique at the same time.
With his glider and his pumpkin bombs, Hobgoblin can either fit perfectly as a hokey villain or a very serious, scary one. Maybe even both at the same time. Can you imagine a Spider-Man movie set around Halloween time with Hobgoblin as the main villain? That sounds like a great time.
Another reason why I think this villain should be in a live-action movie is because one of the people accused of being Hobgoblin is none other than Ned Leeds himself. Ned is Peter’s best friend in the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, so that potential strife could make for some great drama.
Conclusion
Spider-Man has such a deep rogues gallery that this list easily could’ve been a top 10 or top 15. I’m not against re-using some of the same villains as previous movies, but I would like to see some fresh ones as well. Hopefully, at least one of the villains on this list makes it into the next live-action Spider-Man film
