Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"More than 8,000 people currently work at Zaporizhstal. But we are looking not only at them, but also at their families. In addition, numerous businesses and entrepreneurs depend on the plant's operations. In other words, the livelihoods of at least 30,000 families in Zaporizhzhia depend on this industrial group. That is a lot. These are above-average salaries. Metinvest is the largest taxpayer in the Zaporizhzhia region. From an economic perspective, its shutdown is a tragic situation for us," the regional governor said.

Fedorov added that the authorities are in contact with Metinvest and will provide the company with all possible assistance to help it resume production as quickly as possible.

On the night of August 10-11, Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on an industrial site in Zaporizhzhia. The Zaporizhstal steelworks was among the facilities affected by the attacks, with people killed and injured. The plant's operations have been temporarily suspended.
