Newly promoted Premier League side, Coventry City, have signed Nigeria international, Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest.

As reported by transfer market specialist, Fabrizio Romano, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest have come to a club-to-club agreement regarding the transfer of the Super Eagles forward.

Awoniyi is poised to depart Nottingham Forest permanently, with the Sky Blues securing his services on a long-term contract.

The 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup champion is currently undergoing medicals for his official introduction by Coventry City.

He will become the second Nigerian international recruited by manager, Frank Lampard, to bolster his squad following their promotion to the Premier League, joining fellow countryman Frank Onyeka, who transferred from Brentford at the conclusion of the previous season.

During his four-year tenure at Nottingham Forest, Awoniyi scored 23 goals and provided six assists in 103 matches across all competitions.

Of those goals, 21 were scored in the Premier League, where he accumulated significant top-flight experience, making 90 appearances for Forest.

The former Liverpool prospect is now in the final year of his contract with Nottingham Forest, having joined the club from Union Berlin in 2022.
