Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has asked President Bola Tinubu to order security agencies deployed to the state to prevent attempts to disrupt the collation of results in the ongoing Saturday’s governorship election.
Mr Adeleke, in a post on X, expressed concerns over alleged attempts by what he described as “desperate and rejected” politicians to cause chaos during result collation.
Mr Adeleke, who is seeking second term in Saturday’s election, demanded that Mr Tinubu use his “good office” to issue a warning to “the heads of security agencies deployed to protect and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.”
He said, “Reports of attempts to hijack or disrupt collation centers by desperate and rejected politicians across the state are deeply concerning and unacceptable, particularly given the large number of security personnel deployed to ensure a peaceful and credible election.”

He urged the president to reaffirm his commitment to ensure that Osun State residents’ votes count and that the election outcome reflects their genuine choice.
He also called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to adhere strictly to the president’s directive.
He asked that they provide the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the necessary support it needs to ensure a credible and transparent outcome
This is the latest in the series of alarms Mr Adeleke has raised concerning electoral violence and malpractice on Saturday.
PREMIUM TIMES reports that the incumbent governor demanded that security agencies prioritise protecting citizens’ votes during collation of the governorship election results only a few hours ago.
During voting hours, he accused security agencies of bias, intimidation, and attempts to manipulate the poll in favour of the APC.
The governor alleged that police personnel were tear-gassing voters in some areas and that the APC was attempting to rig the election.
Mr Adeleke’s bid for a second term faces challenge from 14 other candidates, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) governoraship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in a keenly contested poll.
