Lucasfilm has finally pulled back the curtain on the second season of Ahsoka, with the first trailer debuting during Disney’s D23 showcase in Anaheim. The new footage picks up the story after Season 1 and confirms that Ahsoka Tano’s journey is about to expand into a much larger conflict involving Thrawn, the New Republic and the mysterious world of Peridea.

The trailer opens with Anakin Skywalker confronting his former Padawan, with Hayden Christensen reprising the role that has become central to Ahsoka’s story in live action. His appearance also includes material connected to the Clone Wars era, giving the season another opportunity to explore Ahsoka’s history with her former master. The footage frames her Jedi identity as an unresolved question, with Anakin asking whether she truly considers herself a Jedi.

Grand Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen, emerges as the season’s major threat. After returning to the main galaxy at the end of Season 1, Thrawn is now preparing to rally the remnants of the Empire and wage war against the New Republic. The trailer teases large-scale space battles and a rapidly escalating conflict as the Imperial strategist begins putting his plans into motion.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka and Sabine Wren remain stranded on Peridea after the events of the first season. Natasha Liu Bordizzo returns as Sabine, while Eman Esfandi reprises his role as Ezra Bridger, who managed to return to the main galaxy alongside Thrawn. Their separation creates two parallel threads, with Ahsoka and Sabine facing the dangers of Peridea while Ezra becomes caught up in the conflict surrounding Thrawn’s return.

The trailer also introduces a major change behind the scenes. Rory McCann, best known as Sandor Clegane in Game of Thrones, takes over the role of Baylan Skoll following the death of Ray Stevenson in 2023. Baylan was last seen on Peridea investigating the mysterious Mortis gods, and the new footage shows McCann continuing that storyline.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead also returns as Hera Syndulla, while Chopper and Huyang remain part of Ahsoka’s expanding ensemble. The footage suggests that the Nightsisters and their connection to Peridea will continue to play a significant role.

Created by Dave Filoni, Ahsoka Season 2 will premiere on January 20, 2027, exclusively on Disney+. The new season follows nearly three and a half years after the debut of the first season, which premiered in August 2023.
