Thailand 10K: Torregosa displays speed, finishes in second place

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Artjoy Torregosa showcased her speed and endurance after finishing second overall in the women’s division of the META Time Trials Thailand 2026 on Sunday, Aug. 16, in Bangkok.

Torregosa, the Philippine women’s marathon record holder and a Southeast Asian Games silver medalist, clocked 36 minutes and 32 seconds in the 10-kilometer race.

She finished just 21 seconds behind champion Thi Ngoc Hoa Hoang of Vietnam, who topped the women’s field in 36:11.

Thailand’s Suthinee Dansoonthornwong placed third in 37:44, while Singapore’s Goh Shing Ling was fourth in 37:47.

Indonesia’s Rikki Marthin Luther Simbolon ruled the men’s division in 30:14, edging Filipino runner Sonny Wagdos, who finished five seconds behind in 30:19. China’s Xiangbao Zhao was third in 30:28, while Ethiopia’s Kinduh Tiruneh placed fourth in 31:26.

Buildup for Japan

The Thailand race served as part of Torregosa’s buildup for the Asian Games in Japan, scheduled for Sept. 19 to Oct. 4, where she will represent the Philippines.

Earlier this month, Torregosa also topped the women’s division of the inaugural Cebu’s 1st Governor’s Zero Hunger Run, winning the 21-kilometer half marathon.
