Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said that the State government was committed to the comprehensive development of backward Mulugu district, with a focus on tribal welfare, infrastructure, education, healthcare and employment opportunities for the youth.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the Integrated District Collectorate Complex (IDOC), Mr. Revanth Reddy said the new complex would make government services more accessible to people. He also unveiled a pylon marking the launch of road works under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).

He said construction of the Superintendent of Police’s office and court buildings would also be completed soon.

The Chief Minister said the government was giving special attention to the development of the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma temple and would take up measures to improve facilities there. He also announced that special funds would soon be sanctioned for the development of the Malluru Narasimhaswamy temple. He said the Jampanna Vagu would be developed comprehensively by constructing check dams and bathing ghats.

Recalling that the Congress party’s padayatra had begun from Mulugu with the blessings of Sammakka and Saralamma, he said the government would continue to work for the development of tribal areas and the welfare of women and youth.

Local MLA and Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said the allocation of 5,000 houses to Mulugu constituency was an indication of the government’s commitment to the area.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Revanth Reddy visited Medaram and offered prayers at the shrines of Sammakka and Saralamma. He arrived at Medaram by helicopter from Bichkunda and performed special pujas.

The Chief Minister also handed over social security pension documents to 24 eligible widows and single women.

Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar, MPs Balaram Naik and Vem Narender Reddy, and officials attended the programme.
