The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.

"The Ukrainian Red Cross notes that at the time the vehicle was stopped, the volunteer from the Ukrainian Red Cross Rapid Response Team was not wanted by law enforcement. He was also not informed at the scene that he was going to be taken to a Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center for a military medical examination, potentially followed by mobilization," the statement said.

The organization noted that the evacuation of the people who were in the vehicle at the time of the stop continued with the help of other volunteers. Aware of the difficult circumstances and the associated risks, they ensured that the evacuees were transported onward. The evacuation was successfully completed, albeit with a delay.

"URCS understands and respects the requirements of current legislation governing mobilization and military registration. At the same time, the organization has a significant number of volunteers who have been mobilized and recognizes that the issue of reserving volunteers from mobilization is currently not properly regulated by law," the statement said.

At the same time, the organization stressed that this particular case involved exceptional circumstances: at the time he was stopped, the volunteer was directly carrying out a complex humanitarian mission – evacuating civilians from a dangerous area.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society currently has no clear understanding of the conditions under which its volunteers can carry out rescue and emergency assistance missions without hindrance, particularly when operating in the Mykolaiv region or transiting through the region, while simultaneously complying with military registration requirements.

The organization stressed that this uncertainty is already creating additional risks to the continuity of humanitarian operations and directly affects its ability to engage volunteers in civilian evacuations, emergency response and assistance to those affected.

As reported, an evacuation vehicle driver transporting people from Kherson was detained in the Mykolaiv region and, under the pretext of checking him for alcohol intoxication, was sent for a military medical examination.
