Contractor ‘stabs’ construction worker over alleged affair with wife

CEBU CITY, Philippines – A construction worker was hospitalized after he was allegedly stabbed by his project contractor and close friend early Monday morning, August 17, over an alleged affair with the latter’s wife.

The stabbing reportedly occurred outside the suspect’s residence in Upper La Guerta, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, at around 1:50 a.m. Monday.

According to a report from the Mabolo Police Station, the suspect, alias “Jestoni,” became furious after learning of the victim’s alleged affair with his wife.

Jestoni, 36, told CDN Digital that he regretted stabbing Alvin, 24, multiple times, saying he was blinded by anger.

“Mangayo lang ko pasaylo niya Ma’am kay ug wala lang ko niya traydora di ta nako siya madunggaban,” he said.

(I’m just asking for her forgiveness, Ma’am, because if he hadn’t betrayed me, I wouldn’t have stabbed him.)

“Nasakitan lang jud ko Ma’am kay suod baya kaayu nako siya nga higala unya giunay niya ako asawa. Nabasahan pa jud nako nga gihalokan niya katung niadto sila ug Busay.”

(I was just hurt, Ma’am, because he was a very close friend of mine, and then he had an affair with my wife. I even read their messages saying that he kissed her when they went to Busay.)

As of this writing, Alvin remains in the hospital for the treatment of the multiple stab wounds that he sustained on his body while Jestoni is now detained.

Exchange of messages

Jestoni told CDN Digital that he became very angry after learning of his 28-year-old wife’s alleged affair with Alvin, which he said began while he was in Negros Oriental on August 6 to visit his family.

When he returned to Cebu last week, Jestoni said he randomly checked his wife’s cellphone and found her exchange of messages with Alvin.

Jestoni said he confronted his wife about the alleged infidelity, and she admitted to going out drinking with Alvin. She also admitted that Alvin had kissed her.

However, she denied having an intimate relationship with Alvin, a claim Jestoni said he did not believe.

Jestoni said he also suspected that the affair had been going on for some time.

What made him even angrier, he said, was the feeling of betrayal. He considered Alvin like family.

The two men were neighbors in Upper La Guerta.

Jestoni said he had given Alvin work on his construction projects to make sure he had money for his needs.

Stabbing incident

The suspect admitted that he was unable to restrain himself when he saw Alvin near their house early Monday morning.

Alvin, who had come from a gathering at another neighbor’s house and was already on his way home, allegedly took a peek inside the couple’s house after hearing Jestoni and his wife arguing.

When Jestoni saw him, he allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife, chased Alvin, and stabbed him multiple times.
