Body located in water near Dunedin coast

A body has been located in the water near Lawyers Head in Dunedin on Monday afternoon.

Police said they got the call at around 3:20pm after a member of the public discovered the body near John Wilson Ocean Drive

"The body has since been recovered, and a formal identification process is underway."

Police said the road was cordoned off for some time while the body was being recovered, but has since reopened.

They said the public may see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.
