Russia has cautioned the United States and Turkey over the planned delivery of a large shipment of weapons and munitions to Ukraine.
A statement by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova said documents made public by the United States Congress show that the arms can be a considerable arsenal.
The weapons include 12 multiple rocket launch systems, over 2,500 non-guided cluster munitions, 47,000 203-mm cluster shells and 70 ATACMS short-range missiles.
“What were the parties thinking when they decided to open another Pandora’s box to make the Banderite regime last longer in its agony while claiming more lives?” Zakharova wrote.
Moscow is seeking to know who initiated the project to re-export weapons, how they will be transported, and when the lethal shipment will be sent to Ukraine.
Zakharova accused the United States and Turkey of bias, despite “aspiring to play a special role in settling the Ukraine crisis” and finding a political and diplomatic solution.
The diplomat warned that pumping weapons into Ukraine will do nothing to affect its special military operation in any way nor divert it from “Russia’s righteous scenario”.
Zakharova said the matter is not only about Kyiv’s “determination to cause harm”, but the friction it would cause to Moscow’s relations with Washington and Ankara.
The Russian government has requested explanations from the United States and Turkey regarding the possible armament, noting there is still time to review the situation.
