Around 30,000 participants are expected to take part in the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon on August 29 and 30, with Cyberabad Police, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials and event organisers working on traffic management and safety arrangements.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh and other senior police and civic officials conducted a joint inspection on Monday to review arrangements for the event.

The main event on August 30 will begin at 4.30 a.m. from People’s Plaza and conclude at G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium at around 10 a.m. The route will enter the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits at the Cable Bridge.

The Full Marathon will cover 42 km, starting from People’s Plaza and passing through Necklace Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Monorail Circle, Jubilee Check Post, Road No. 45, Filmnagar, Shaikpet, Narsingi, the Outer Ring Road junction and Biodiversity before finishing at the Gachibowli Stadium. The Half Marathon will follow the same route, excluding the Necklace Road and stadium loops.

The 10K Run will begin at 7.30 a.m. from Hitec City and pass through Lemon Tree Junction and Biodiversity before finishing at Gachibowli Stadium.

The events will begin on August 29 with the Persons with Disabilities Race at 6.30 a.m., followed by the 5K Run involving around 6,000 participants. The 5K route will start at HICC, pass Bio-Diversity and finish near Gachibowli/Novotel.

Police identified crowd movement, starting points and merging routes as key operational challenges. Staggered wave starts will be used to manage the large number of participants, while marshals will regulate runners stopping on flyovers and scenic stretches for photographs or selfies.

Police also stressed the need for runners to dispose of water packets and energy gels properly to prevent slipping hazards.

Around 65 shuttle buses will be deployed to ferry runners between designated drop-off points and Gachibowli Stadium. Parking will be regulated through designated zones, while private vehicles will not be allowed to park randomly along active race routes.

Ride-hailing and food delivery services, including Ola, Uber, Rapido, Zomato and Swiggy, will not be permitted to operate inside active race corridors leading to the finishing point at Gachibowli Stadium.

Officials said road surfaces would be checked and potholes and damaged stretches rectified ahead of the event. Signage, digital timers and colour-coded barricading will also be put in place.

Road closures will be progressively lifted as runners pass through designated checkpoints, with safety vehicles and sweepers following the trailing runners. The Cyberabad Command and Control Centre will monitor the event and coordinate responses to emergencies or unforeseen situations within the commissionerate limits.
