The land acquisition for Tumakuru Node (an Industrial Manufacturing Hub) has been progressing smoothly as the project is scheduled for completion in 2027, said Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil on Monday.

The Minister was speaking virtually at the third meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The State government has earmarked 1,736 acres of land in Tumakuru, which has the potential to attract an investment of ₹7,000 crore and generate over 88,000 jobs in the State.

According to Mr. Patil, the Tumakuru Node of the Bengaluru–Chennai Industrial Corridor has so far achieved 30% physical progress and 20% financial progress. Of the land earmarked for the project, 300 acres have been allotted for a Japan Industrial Township and 200 acres for micro, small. and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Jindal Aluminium is the anchor investor in the node and has been allotted 151 acres, while another 41 acres have been earmarked for institutional use. The node would prioritise sectors such as food and beverages, textiles and apparel, electronics, chemicals, general engineering, and logistics, he explained.

Similarly, the PM MITRA Industrial Park sanctioned for Kalaburagi and the projects sanctioned to the State under the ‘BHAVYA’ initiative would also be completed soon, he said. The State government would extend all necessary support to the Centre in this regard, the Minister assured.

Under this Union government initiative, 11 industrial corridors and 20 smart cities are being developed across 13 States. Of these, four smart city projects have been completed, while the remaining 16 are at various stages of development.

As part of this initiative, the Bengaluru–Chennai, Bengaluru–Hyderabad and Bengaluru–Mumbai Industrial Corridors are being developed. The project, estimated to cost ₹50,759 crore, has the potential to attract investments of ₹5.35 lakh crore and aims to generate 14 lakh jobs. The ambitious project, which will be implemented across a total area of 49,120 acres, will see 100 industrial parks being established under the ‘BHAVYA’ initiative, Ms. Sitharaman noted.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and the Chief Ministers and Industries Ministers of all the States attended the meeting.
