Uttar Pradesh is set to host more than 200 Japanese business leaders, CEOs, industry representatives and policymakers at the U.P.–Japan Investment Meet 2026 from 18 to 23 August, with the delegation led by Kotaro Nagasaki, Hon’ble Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture. Organised by Invest UP, the five-day programme will focus on converting Japanese business interest into investments, technology partnerships, projects and employment across manufacturing, clean energy, semiconductors, digital infrastructure, skills, tourism and related sectors.
The delegation will be welcomed in New Delhi on August 18 by Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal and Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The programme will connect Japanese companies with senior government representatives, Indian businesses, and academic institutions across Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Greater Noida, and Varanasi.
The engagement builds on Uttar Pradesh’s recent strategic outreach to Japan and is aimed at translating dialogue into industrial investments, joint ventures, technology collaborations and jobs, in line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of building Uttar Pradesh into a $1 trillion economy.

The five-day programme will commence on 19 August in New Delhi with a high-level CXO Roundtable and inaugural session at Taj Palace, attended by Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Minister of Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The main state-level summit will take place on 21 August at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, featuring Government-to-Business (G2B) and Business-to-Business (B2B) matchmaking sessions

Japanese City at YEIDA to anchor a larger Japan–UP manufacturing ecosystem
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is emerging as a major destination for Japanese manufacturing in Uttar Pradesh. Escorts Kubota’s ₹2,025-crore project in Sector-10 will manufacture tractors, construction equipment and allied products for domestic and export markets, with expected employment of more than 3,800 people.
Minda Corporation is developing two projects in Sector-10 and Sector-24, YEIDA, involving a combined investment of ₹1,166 crore and proposed employment of around 6,440 people. The projects will manufacture ignition switch-cum-steering locks, mechatronic components, wiring harnesses and related connection systems.
Together, these projects represent ₹3,191 crore in investment and more than 10,000 potential jobs, strengthening the foundation for a deeper Japanese manufacturing ecosystem in the state.
To further expand this ecosystem, Uttar Pradesh has earmarked 500 acres for a dedicated Japanese City at YEIDA. The planned cluster is envisioned as a base for Japanese companies, suppliers and ancillary industries, facilitating technology transfer, supply-chain integration and additional employment.
The summit will also explore opportunities in green energy, including renewable power, clean technologies and green hydrogen; manufacturing and automotive, covering auto components, electronics and semiconductors; digital infrastructure, including GCCs and data centres; skills and workforce development, through technical training and industry-academia collaboration; and tourism and culture, particularly hospitality and civic infrastructure along the Buddhist Circuit covering Varanasi, Sarnath and Kushinagar.
Agra will showcase opportunities in tourism and smart civic infrastructure, while Galgotia University, Greater Noida, will host academic-industry engagements focused on technical skills and industry-ready talent.
Senior Uttar Pradesh leaders, including Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Suresh Khanna, Industries Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, Minister of State for Industrial Development and Parliamentary Affairs Jaswant Singh Saini, and IIDC Deepak Kumar, along with senior officials from finance, industries, IT and electronics departments, will participate in the programme.
The U.P.–Japan Investment Meet 2026 marks a significant step towards building a stronger Japan–Uttar Pradesh economic partnership—anchored in manufacturing, skilled talent, modern infrastructure and advanced technology. The larger objective is to position Uttar Pradesh as a competitive global investment destination while creating the industrial capacity and employment opportunities needed to power its long-term growth.
