Amid escalating Israeli settler violence, US House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called on the Trump administration to pressure Israel into protecting Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

"The ongoing siege of Palestinian homes in the West Bank by violent, lawbreaking settlers is unacceptable. Enough," Jeffries said in a post on X.

"The Trump administration must compel the Israeli government to protect the lives, property and livelihood of innocent Palestinian civilians."

At least 18 people have been killed and 880 more wounded during settler attacks in 2026. The figures mark a sharp rise from the previous year. In 2025, Ocha documented around 830 Palestinians wounded by settlers across the entire year.

More than 2,300 Palestinians have also been displaced in 2026 as a result of settler violence and related access restrictions, according to Ocha.
