CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Two men who were stranded in the middle of a river while gathering wood were rescued and brought to safety by responders there on Tuesday. The Magsaysay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said its Operations Center received a report about the men trapped by strong river currents. Before responders arrived, a relative of the stranded men attempted to swim toward them to assist but was swept away by the strong current.
