Lactose-free food lovers rejoice! Beloved cream cheese brand Philadelphia is launching its first-ever lactose-free version of its signature spread for U.S. customers.

Philadelphia Lactose Free cream cheese is “made with real dairy,” featuring “the same fresh milk and real cream as the original” to create an almost identical taste compared to the original.

The brand said in a press release that the product tastes so similar to the original that it can be used “as a one-to-one swap for the original cream cheese,” in everything from bagels and sandwiches to cheesecakes.

“Philadelphia Lactose Free uses a lactase enzyme to help make the product easier to digest for people who are sensitive to lactose, allowing consumers to enjoy the real dairy cream cheese without the discomfort or tradeoffs,” the release said.

The new cream cheese will be available at major retailers nationwide starting in August in the brand’s brick form.

According to the release, the item has no added preservatives, flavors or dyes. It also said the brand took two years to develop, and that the product is the first lactose-free cream cheese from a major brand in the U.S.

Kraft Heinz, the parent company of Philadelphia, is working to “modernize and evolve its iconic brands to meet consumers’ evolving preferences and dietary needs,” per the release.

Announcing the product on Instagram, the company said: “Now everyone gets to schmear. Stay tuned.”

“Finally!!!” one person commented. “I cannot tell you how much I miss bagels and homemade cheesecake.”

The company also said it is working to “modernize and evolve its iconic brands to meet consumers’ evolving preferences and dietary needs.”

Last October, the brand announced several new products, including ready-made Frozen Cheesecakes in plain and strawberry flavors.

Philadelphia sells over 50 million pounds of cream cheese every holiday season, according to company data, and consumers make almost 50 million slices of Philadelphia cheesecake per season.

“For too long, many lactose-intolerant consumers have had to miss out on cream cheese and some of the foods they love most,” said Maddy Zingle, Vice President of Marketing at Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

“Philadelphia Lactose Free changes that. From a perfectly schmear-ed bagel to a homemade cheesecake, fans can once again enjoy their favorite recipes without sacrificing the rich, creamy taste they expect from Philadelphia,” the statement continued. It also opens the door to new creamy possibilities in the kitchen, transforming any dish from good to Really Philly Good.”
