Lying in a hospital bed in pain and covered in scars, Perez Hilton has been fed the same encouraging words for days: 'Your friends are all in your corner.'

But the reality, the Daily Mail has been told, is that the Hollywood blogger has not received a single bouquet, get-well card or text from the close celebrity friends he spent years cultivating.

'All the ones he wanted to reach out, all the celebrities who he has mended fences with, all the ones who said he's their friend. None of them are doing anything,' a family friend close to Hilton told the Daily Mail.

'He's about to find out who his real friends are.'

The 48-year-old, born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, has been hospitalized since August 4 after a TikTok livestream showed him seemingly covered in blood, holding a large knife and appearing to harm himself inside his Miami home.

Hilton has asked whether his famous friends have reached out to send him well wishes, and those close to him said they don't have the heart to tell him the truth.

'We don't even know how to break this news to him, he'll be crushed,' the family friend said.

'It's sad really, how little people are rallying behind him. People who have told him they love him, but where are they?'

Despite being the notorious chronicler of many celebrities' most private moments, several A-listers eventually came around to liking Hilton.

Hilton enjoyed close bonds with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Adele as they became rising stars. He showed support for Amanda Bynes through her very public issues, which she frequently reposted.

Reality star-turned-politician Spencer Pratt even made Hilton the godfather of his son, Gunner.

Hilton has also made amends with celebrities he once feuded with, most recently burying the hatchet with Khloe Kardashian and Britney Spears, whom he mocked over their looks and personal troubles for years.

Yet no private well wishes from friends or former enemies have reached Hilton.

'People who said they were his friends have not spoken out, not shown any support, publicly or privately,' Hilton's family friend said. 'They know who they are.'

Public support for Hilton has also been scant.

'Supernatural' star Jared Padalecki, who has been open about his own mental health struggles, initially posted a show of support, writing on X directly to Hilton: 'I hope you are trying as best as you can to be kind to yourself right now.'

Padalecki deleted the post the following day and apologized for supporting him, writing that he 'didn't know' about Hilton's history as a celebrity tabloid blogger.

The lack of public support from Hilton's friends is not the only thing his family is shielding him from: they're also hiding the celebrities that are publicly criticizing him.

The family friend told the Daily Mail that they are 'pretty offended' by several high-profile people celebrating his breakdown, specifically calling out Alec Baldwin's daughter, Ireland.

Ireland Baldwin frequently landed in the crosshairs of Hilton's gossip blog, and after his hospitalization, Baldwin posted on X that Hilton 'was a piece of s**t but I wish him well.'

'Like Ireland saying he was a piece of s**t, why? Why make a dig? Why go there if you want to say something, do you need to get your pound of flesh?' Hilton's frustrated family friend said.

'Those are the ones that we don't want him seeing, we don't need him to see people saying things like that, it'll just make him spiral.'

Hilton, hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act, is currently receiving in-patient treatment and family say he has a long road to recovery.

His mother, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary legal custody of his three children on August 7, 2026, in a Miami family court.

The family friend said that Hilton is 'healing up' under doctor supervision and has received extensive stitching for his injuries that will leave a lot of scarring, but 'physically he is going to be ok.'

While Hilton comes to terms with his current condition, the family has offered insight into what may have been a contributing factor to his mental breakdown.

Before his livestream, Hilton had been sporadic at taking his several prescribed medications, the Daily Mail has been told.

Hilton at times had stockpiles of leftover medications that he was supposed to take and didn't, and according to the family may have tried to 'catch up' on his doses before the incident.

In recovery, Hilton also has no access to his phone or other devices, leaving his family to manage his finances and gossip website.

Hilton's finances are in complete disarray, Hilton's family friend told the Daily Mail, adding that the blogger kept 'a lot of stuff on his phone and is secretive,' about his income and bills.

'There's no rhyme or reason and he can't really explain it. It's a matter of guessing whether or not things are getting paid, and hoping that nothing falls between the cracks,' the family friend said.

The Daily Mail previously reported that Hilton was low on money and had been struggling to find work, and that reality show pitches to production companies had not survived past initial stages.

While Hilton was said to have recently signed a deal with a TV production company to host a show about cyberbullying, the Daily Mail understands that Hilton had not been paid and that bosses were still trying to make a role for him.

Without a detailed map of who needs to be paid and when, Hilton's family have been left to decipher the bills that are piling up at the blogger's house, while also getting his only remaining source of income back on track.

Traffic to Hilton's celebrity gossip blog, his last source of revenue, has cratered since the bloody TikTok live stream.

'There was a bump at first but nothing new. And it's the only thing he has to pay the bills, so the site has to start publishing stories,' the family friend said, adding that Perez's team, mainly his sister, will be responsible for producing stories.

'It's not at Mario's direction but he knows it's being done to keep the lights on.'

On Monday, publishing to PerezHilton.com resumed.

The traditionally snarky tone of Hilton's content will be toned down drastically going forward, the family friend said.

'It won't be mean, it won't be calling people out, but there is celebrity news happening and people are used to going to his site to read about it.'

Hilton himself is focused on his faith, and is hoping Christ will help him recover.

'He has a bible with him and he's really reading it. Praying,' the family friend added. 'He's really committed to it.'
