  • According to a prominent leaker, the OPPO Find X10 flagship could offer a display that supports BT.2020, one of the widest color gamuts.
  • Consequently, the tipster claims the Find X10’s display will offer the “highest beneficial red light” courtesy of its upgraded display tech.
  • OPPO is expected to launch the Find X10 series in the fourth quarter, with China getting first dibs on the device, followed by global markets.

Display makers have long tried to combat complaints about eye fatigue with hardware solutions, while smartphone brands typically rely on software solutions to reduce harmful blue light emitted by the screen. But every now and then, manufacturers push the envelope with new display tech. OPPO may be the next to join that list.

According to leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the display on the company’s Find X10 series will include an “eye-protection substrate” that supports BT.2020, the widest color gamut standard in the industry today. Furthermore, the insider claims that the Find X10’s screen will achieve the “highest beneficial red light and lowest harmful blue light.”

Most of us are familiar with the latter in the context of blue-light reduction features, such as the ones built into Android. In a subsequent comment, Digital Chat Station notes that this improved red-light emission “can relieve the soreness and fatigue caused by looking at the screen for a long time.”

The mention of beneficial red light may refer to research, such as a 2021 study, which showed that deep red light can improve declining eyesight. This is merely speculation on our part, and we can’t be certain about the tech used in the upcoming OPPO flagship until the company makes an official announcement.

The leaker further notes that other brands are working on this particular display tech, though their versions aren’t expected to land until next year. As for the other attributes of the upcoming flagship, Digital Chat Station claims it will feature “ultra-narrow bezels,” which could be among its highlight features alongside the upgraded eye-care tech.

Leaks suggest the OPPO Find X10 will debut sometime in Q4 this year. The flagship could arrive in China first, followed by a global release (except in the US) thereafter.
