In a plight to eradicate one of life’s most arduous chores, there are now robot vacuums to suit all budgets, with models ranging from feature-packed machines that cost upwards of £1,000 to options for less than £500, which have more basic features.
Aldi’s latest offering falls into the latter category, costing less than £70 while combining sweeping, vacuuming and mopping in one device.
The robot vacuum comes with a 400ml dustbin, a 250ml water tank, a HEPA filter that helps to capture particles as it cleans. It also has a side brush designed to prevent hair tangles, a big plus if you have long hair or pets.
Aldi says that sensors should help the robot avoid obstacles as it moves around your home, and that a fully charged battery provides around 1.5 hours of cleaning time. Once it needs more power, the automatic recharge function should send it back to its charging station. Plus, it can be controlled using either the included remote or an app.

Best robot vacuums
If you miss out on Aldi’s robot vacuum, our in-house experts have reviewed many models. Here are some of the top picks.
Our best overall robot vacuum, tech expert Alastair Jennings wrote that this model was easy to set up and had that best app functionality. He wrote: “While there are other vacuums in the test that did manage to vacuum carpets with greater suction and mop the floors with more vigour, the Dyson was able to do all at a good quality of cleanliness and excelled with a superb app and user experience.”
If you’re looking for a more affordable option, IndyBest’s deputy editor Sabrina Sahota highly rates iRobot’s roomba mini. “When I sent it to clean flour that had fallen on my kitchen floor after making bread, it picked it up with ease”, she wrote in her roomba mini review. “Robot vacuums can often struggle on carpet, but the Roomba mini was as effective on the one carpeted area of my house.”
