CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) enforced pre-emptive evacuations in the Occidental Mindoro towns of Paluan and Sablayan on Aug. 18 as heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon raised water levels in flood-prone areas. In Paluan, residents from low-lying and flood-prone areas in Barangays 1, 6 and 10 were moved to safety by the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Paluan, together with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Municipal Police Station.
