A helicopter crashed on Wednesday in Kenya's Samburu county, the aviation authority said, and local media reported that tourists were believed to be on board.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson said the helicopter was heading to the Ewaso Nyiro river that flows through the Samburu National Reserve.

The Star, a local paper, reported there were seven tourists onboard the helicopter, with police telling the paper their nationalities are not yet known.

The spokesperson declined to say how many people were on board or whether they were tourists.

But an aviation source told AFP that there were no survivors of the crash, which happened around 217 miles from Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
