A total of 266 lawmakers voted in favor of his candidacy, which was submitted by President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Sybiha headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denys Shmyhal's government and in the previous government led by Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Sybiha was born on January 1, 1975, in Zboriv, Ternopil region. He began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997.

From 1998 to 2002, he served first as second secretary and later as first secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland. In 2002-2003, he worked as first secretary of the Legal and Humanitarian Cooperation Division of the MFA's European Integration Department.

From 2003 to 2008, he held senior positions in the MFA's Treaty and Legal Department and later in the relevant directorate. From 2008 to 2021, he served as minister-counselor at the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland, and from 2012 to 2016, he headed the MFA's Consular Service Department.

On August 23, 2016, Sybiha was appointed Ukraine's ambassador to Turkey. He was dismissed from the post on May 19, 2021, after which he became Deputy Head of the Office of the President.

On April 12, 2024, Sybiha became First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On September 5, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada appointed him Minister of Foreign Affairs following the dismissal of Dmytro Kuleba.

On July 14, the Verkhovna Rada accepted Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko's resignation. The entire Cabinet automatically resigned along with her.

On July 17, with the president's approval, the government appointed Sybiha Ukraine's acting foreign minister.
