A garda has been charged in connection with an investigation by the force's anti-corruption unit.

The man, aged in his 30s and based in the Dublin region, has been suspended from duty since the inquiry began.

He is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Wednesday morning.

Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
