Awkward moment John Cleese asks The One Show hosts who they are

John Cleese asked The One Show hosts Roman Kemp and Lauren Leverne who they were, in an awkward moment just minutes into the show.

After the presenters welcomed the panel of guests to the show on Tuesday (18 August), the 86-year-old actor asked Kemp what his name was.

After he replied, Cleese said: “I’ve only known one Roman, Roman Polanski,” which left Kemp looking perplexed. “Yes, another famous Roman…” he said.

He then asked Kemp what his “friend” was called, and when she replied Lauren, he said: “That’s a nice name too.”

A bemused-looking Kemp and Laverne then continued with the show.
