According to Ukrinform, the Kyiv office of the State Emergency Service (SES) reported this on Facebook.
"Today, bomb disposal experts from the pyrotechnic operations, underwater and humanitarian demining unit of the special rescue detachment destroyed a cluster munition from a missile warhead," the statement said.
The SES noted that because this type of explosive ordnance is too sensitive to external stimuli to be transported, the only way to dispose of it is to detonate it at the site where it was found.
The cluster munition is a metal sphere approximately ten centimeters in diameter. Its primary purpose is to create an extremely dangerous area of impact over a large area.

The SES urged adults to remind children of basic safety rules, as the appearance of such explosive ordnance may spark curiosity, particularly among children: "Don't approach! Don't touch! Call 101!"
After Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv on July 14, bomb disposal experts in the city's Darnytskyi district found a damaged warhead, as well as fragments of a missile and an S-400 surface-to-air missile system, on the grounds of an enterprise.
