P50,000 reward offered for info on village councilor’s slay in Isabela

ECHAGUE, ISABELA, Philippines — Local government officials have earmarked P50,000 as reward money for informants who can lead to the arrest of the killers of a former village chair and incumbent councilor in Barangay Malibago here.

Police Colonel Manuel Bringas, Isabela police director, hoped that the reward money would help to arrest the motorcycle-riding gunmen who shot and killed village councilor Lito Publico, 61, inside his farm resort compound on July 17.

Bringas said they have formed the Special Investigation Task Group-Publico (SITG-Publico) with assigned team members for intelligence gathering, manhunt operations, and follow-up investigation.

Probers have released screenshots of the killers from a closed-circuit television camera in the area.

“We condemn the dastardly act … We will not stop until the killers will be identified, arrested, and charged,” he said. /cb
