Few television creators are as prolific as Taylor Sheridan.

Perhaps the most misunderstood creative in Hollywood, Sheridan has built a massive TV empire, beginning with his hit Western drama Yellowstone in 2018. The series, which ran on Paramount until 2025, starred Kevin Costner as John Dutton, a father and sixth-generation homesteader, who controls the country’s largest contiguous ranch.

The show has since spawned multiple prequels and spin-offs, including 1883, 1923 and Dutton Ranch. Sheridan recently revealed that the latest spin-off, 6666, has been permanently shelved, despite Paramount having announced it was in development.

Still, the king of Paramount remains booked and busy, with seven shows currently airing, and at least two more on the way.

Here is a rundown of all of Sheridan’s shows — past, present and forthcoming — that he has either created or that are based on characters he created.

Currently airing

Mayor of Kingstown (2021-)

Sheridan first stepped out of the Yellowstone universe with Mayor of Kingstown. The thriller — which follows the McKlusky family, who act as unofficial power brokers in their town of Kingston, Michigan, where incarceration is the only thriving industry — is expected to return to screens for its fifth and final season this fall.

It stars Jeremy Renner, who returned as Mike McKlusky in 2024 following his near-fatal snowplow accident.

Tulsa King (2022-)

Following the overwhelming success of Mayor of Kingstown, Sheridan continued to expand his reach with the gritty mafia crime drama Tulsa King. The show centers on Dwight (Sylvester Stallone), a mob boss recently freed from prison and exiled to Oklahoma to set up shop. It marks the Rocky actor’s first-ever starring role in a scripted television series.

It has been renewed for a fourth season, with production wrapping in March. A premiere date has yet to be announced.

Lioness (2023-)

Currently in its third season, Lioness is a thriller featuring Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman as CIA operatives balancing their personal and professional lives while leading the agency’s war on terror.

New episodes premiere Sundays on Paramount+.

Landman (2024-)

Landman, featuring an ensemble cast of Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Sam Elliott, Michelle Randolph and Jon Hamm, takes a deep dive into the shady world of billionaire oil tycoons.

Thornton leads as crisis executive Tommy Norris, who attempts to bring his company to the top during a fueling boom. A release date for season three of Landman is currently unknown.

Dutton Ranch (2026-)

While the latest Yellowstone sequel, Dutton Ranch, was not officially created by Sheridan, it is based on original characters he created.

The series, which premiered in May, welcomes back Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as power couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. The show follows their relocation to South Texas after a devastating fire destroys their Montana ranch.

Dutton Ranch broke Paramount+ streaming records, becoming the platform’s biggest original series launch yet.

Marshals (2026-)

The Luke Grimes-led series, Marshals, is similarly built on Yellowstone characters originally established by Sheridan. This time, the spin-off focuses on Kayce (Grimes), the youngest Dutton son, and his transition to joining an elite unit of U.S. Marshals.

Combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, Kayce and his colleagues must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.

The Madison (2026-)

The Madison was initially conceived as a Yellowstone spin-off, but it has since been labeled a standalone series.

It features Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, a grieving New Yorker who relocates her family to the Madison River valley of central Montana after an unexpected death. The popular series has already been renewed for a third season, even before season two has aired.

On the way

1944

Paramount announced 1944, a planned follow-up to the Yellowstone prequel 1923, in November 2023. The series, which is still in development, is said to follow the Dutton family and the impact of World War II.

**Frisco King **

Frisco King is a forthcoming spin-off of Tulsa King, starring Samuel L. Jackson as ex-con Russell Lee Washington Jr., who befriended Dwight in prison. Sent on a mission to eliminate Dwight in Tulsa, he is instead inspired to build his own criminal empire in Frisco, Texas.

The debut season wrapped filming in July and is anticipated to premiere in early 2027.

Yellowstone (2018-2025)

Yellowstone, the flagship show that started it all, starred Costner as John Dutton, the patriarch of a family of homesteaders in Montana. Costner led the show for the first four seasons before ultimately quitting midway through its fifth and final season.

His exit prompted Sheridan to end the show prematurely. At the time, there were rumors that Costner had locked horns with Sheridan over scheduling conflicts. However, the TV mogul dispelled those rumors during a recent appearance on The Bill Simmons podcast, explaining that “[Costner] was only supposed to be in the first three seasons. That was in his contract. In my mind, that’s when his youngest son takes over [on the show], but the network was so scared of not having Kevin be a part of it.”

Sheridan said that Costner “was ready to go” as “he had other things he wanted to do,” including his ill-fated Western trilogy Horizon, but the Bodyguard actor remained on the show for another two seasons as it had become “such a behemoth.”

The Last Cowboy (2019-2023)

In 2019, Sheridan dipped his toe into the world of reality TV with The Last Cowboy. The documentary-style series chronicled the elite Western horse-riding competition of horse reining.

The contest saw eight men and women compete against one another as they guided their horses through a precise pattern of circles, spins and stops for the chance to win $1 million.

1883 (2021-2022)

The first prequel to Yellowstone was 1883. Starring real-life couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as James and Margaret Dutton, the drama miniseries explored their journey, from fleeing poverty in Texas to settling down in Montana, where they built the Dutton Ranch.

1923 (2022-2025)

The arrival of 1923 came nearly a year after the conclusion of 1883. The second major prequel to Yellowstone followed Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford), the older brother of James, as he and his wife, Cara (Helen Mirren), face challenges to protect their land and family amid Western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.
