Outside of tie-ins with Embark Studios' other game, The Finals, and the odd Discord collaboration, Arc Raiders hasn't featured in any other promotions in the same way that other multiplayer shooters often do. Until now, that is.
Starting today, Thursday, Aug. 20, and running until Monday, Oct. 26, you can get your hands on a Subway-themed skin, called the Subterranean outfit, alongside three outfit variants for existing skins, and two bonus in-game items when you buy a meal at participating US restaurants. (Sorry, everyone else around the world.)
That's right, folks: the Subterranean outfit has a footlong sub strapped to its exterior like a smoke grenade. But it's not in a sensible place, such as on the hip; it's layered on top of the satchel on the outfit's chest. You can't help but feel like it'd get in the way when aiming down the sights, reloading, going prone… the list goes on. Also, that strap does not look tight enough; 30 seconds of light jogging and that sandwich is coming loose without a doubt.
Alongside the Subterranean outfit, the three variants are called Nascosto, Astrolite, and Rawhide. The one you receive depends on your code type, so unfortunately, you're not guaranteed a unique variant every time. There's also a bundle of two in-game items (one weapon and one support) that rotates weekly. You can learn more about the specifics of the promotion in the terms and conditions.
Dave Skena, chief strategy and commercial officer at Subway, said the following in a press release: "A Subway meal can do more than fuel your day. For Arc Raiders fans, it can now help fuel their next mission. With an original Subterranean outfit, additional exclusive looks, and rotating drops of useful in-game gear, we’ve created a rewards experience that gives players something new to discover throughout the campaign. Subway is giving Raiders more ways to gear up, stand out, and take on Frozen Trail.”
This promotion is taking place to "celebrate the highly anticipated release of the game's upcoming Frozen Trail update arriving on Oct. 8."
