Hamas told to be 'sensitive' to Netanyahu ahead of Israeli elections amid ongoing Israeli attacks

Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim told CNN that the movement remains committed to a peace roadmap for Gaza.

"We are still ready to continue this way to give our people on the ground the chance to revive their life, and to reach the minimum of calm, stability and peace," he said during his interview.

The Hamas official indicated that Board of Peace mediators and US adviser Jared Kushner had asked the movement to be "sensitive" to Benjamin Netanyahu’s political standing ahead of Israel’s upcoming election.

"It is not my duty as a Palestinian to take care of the sensitivity of the timing of the deal for Netanyahu," he said.

"We have heard this from Mr Kushner and the other members of the delegation, that you have to keep in mind that Netanyahu is now passing through a very delicate time," Naim expressed, adding that Israel has not fulfilled obligations stipulated under the ceasefire.

"As a Palestinian, I am not in a position to pay the price from the bodies and blood and the lives of our people in order to secure the victory of Netanyahu’s election."

Israel has continued to launch attacks across the Gaza Strip alongside limiting the entry of aid and necessary assistance.
