According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this in its war update as of 8:00 on August 21 on Facebook.

Over the past day, Russian forces launched one ballistic missile strike and 44 air-, land- and sea-launched cruise/air-launched missiles, carried out 87 airstrikes using 278 guided aerial bombs, and used 10,821 kamikaze drones. They also shelled Ukrainian military positions and settlements 3,077 times.

Russian artillery struck the settlements of Neskuchne, Sopych, Korenok, Potapivka, Volfyne, Bezsalivka, Ulanove and Tovstodubove in the Sumy region, as well as Zoria, Buda-Vorobiivska and Yanzhulivka. An airstrike targeted the area around Velyka Chernechchyna.

Ukrainian aviation, missile forces and artillery struck six UAV control posts and three clusters of Russian personnel.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian forces repelled three Russian assaults. Russian forces also carried out three airstrikes, dropping six bombs, and shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements 53 times, including twice with multiple rocket launchers.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces repelled eight Russian attacks. Russian troops attempted to advance toward Lyman, Izybytske and Okhrimivka, as well as near Starytsia.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces launched 15 offensive actions toward Radkivka and Hlushkivka.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian forces repelled six Russian attempts to breach their defenses toward Lyman, Novosеrhiivka and Drobyshеve, as well as near Novoselivka.

In the Sloviansk sector, Russian forces carried out 15 assaults toward Ozerne, Orikhuvatka and Rai-Oleksandrivka, as well as near Kryva Luka and Riznykivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian troops launched two offensive actions near Nykyforivka and Minkivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, 26 Russian attacks were recorded. Russian forces conducted assaults near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka and Novoselivka, as well as toward Stepanivka, Dovha Balka and Vilne.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces launched 32 attacks. They attempted to advance near Dorozhnie, Novooleksandrivka, Udachne and Kotlyne, as well as toward Novyi Donbas, Biliakivka, Bilytske, Hannivka, Svitle, Shevchenko, Myrne, Vasylivka, Serhiivka and Novopavlivka.

Tregubov

In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian forces launched three attacks toward Nove Zaporizhzhia and near Zaporizke and Rybne.

In the Huliaipole sector, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 16 times, attempting to advance toward Verkhnia Tersa, Charivne, Vozdvyzhivka, Rivne and Dolynka, as well as near Bilohiria.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces stopped three Russian attempts to advance near Plavni and toward Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka.

In the Dnipro River sector, Russian forces conducted no offensive operations.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of Russian forces forming offensive groupings were detected.

As reported, Russia’s total personnel losses since February 24, 2022, had reached approximately 1,474,030 troops as of August 21, including 1,390 killed or incapacitated over the previous day.
