Labour is 'infinitely more evil' than Iran and responsible for 'thousands' more deaths, a newly elected Green Party Council member has claimed.

In a series of seething posts online, Eleanora Folan, a self-described Communist and 'anti-Zionist trans woman', declared Labour had murdered 'far more people' than the Tehran regime in the past 20 years alone.

She also prayed for both Palestine to be 'freed from the bloodthirsty Zionist entity' and for Israel to be 'abolished'.

The Green activist launched her outburst over several months on 'Stats for Lefties', an account she runs on X with nearly 100,000 followers.

In one post, Ms Folan claimed that Labour had 'killed and maimed far more people in the past 20 years than the Iranian regime could ever possibly dream of doing in a century'.

When challenged, she added that Labour under Tony Blair and Keir Starmer was 'directly responsible for far more death, suffering and outright genocide in the 21st century alone than the Iranian regime could ever possibly imagine'.

And she urged the left to 'stand firmly against the British state's colonial project to topple the Iranian government' after Labour looked to bring sanctions against Tehran earlier this year for murdering protesters.

Despite posting such material, Ms Folan was this week elected to represent the Eastern Region on the Green Party Council (GPC).

A Labour spokesperson said: 'It is outrageous that Zack Polanski has allowed Eleanora Folan to remain in his party – and even more extraordinary that they now sit on the Green Party's governing council'

The GPC oversees culture and wellbeing within the Greens, as well as policy and strategy.

Posting on X on Wednesday, Ms Folan wrote: 'I know there will be Zionists reading this who are utterly furious that I won. I welcome their hatred.'

She added: 'Our party has changed, and my election as a proud anti-Zionist trans woman symbolises that change.

Ms Folan had previously shared: 'Glory to the Iranian resistance, whose courageous fight against the imperialist dogs of the USA has utterly humiliated the Great Satan.

'Inshallah Iran will fully repel US imperialism, Palestine will be freed from the bloodthirsty Zionist entity and Israel will be abolished.'

But the Green Party was last night accused of failing to root out 'extremists' in light of Ms Folan's election.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: 'This shows that the Greens are no longer nice cuddly people who want to be kind to badgers and whales.

'Today's Green Party is virulently antisemitic - as evidenced by the numerous unpleasant things their candidates and elected representatives have said.

'Denying antisemitism exists when a Jewish man was murdered in a synagogue by an Islamist extremist less than a year ago is appalling.

'And praising the Islamist Iranian regime is just as bad – a regime that slaughtered 30,000 of its own citizens earlier this year and has killed women for not covering themselves.

'We all now know the Greens' true colours – and it is deeply unpleasant.'

Former anti-extremism tsar Lord Walney added: 'Eleanora Folan's election to the party's governing council while promoting messages wishing 'Glory to the Iranian resistance' shows that the sickness which tainted the Labour Party in the Jeremy Corbyn era has fully engulfed the Greens.'

A Labour Party spokesperson said: 'It is outrageous that Zack Polanski has allowed Eleanora Folan to remain in his party – and even more extraordinary that they now sit on the Green Party's governing council.

'Folan's comments are disgraceful, and Polanski's failure to act raises yet more questions about his appalling judgement and lack of leadership.'

In other X posts, Ms Folan praises President Xi's communist regime in China, and plots how to achieve a 'successful Communist revolution'.

And commenting on a post highlighting the falling numbers of Britain's armed forces, she wrote: 'Not enough. Slash it, slash it, slash it' with clap emojis.

A Green Party spokesperson said: 'Green Party Council members are elected to a local region under a Single Transferable Vote system.

'The Green Party has processes in place to look into views expressed by members which may not align with Green Party values.'

Ms Folan was contacted for comment.
