Developmental projects worth ₹2.35 crore at the Eravipuram railway station are scheduled for completion by January 2027, N.K. Premachandran, MP, has said after visiting the site to inspect the ongoing construction and holding discussions with railway officials and residents.
Addressing immediate civic concerns raised during the visit, officials were urged to take swift action to alleviate the commuting and pedestrian bottlenecks caused by the active construction work. The master plan for the station includes upgrading both platform 1 and platform 2 to a standard height of 84 cm, alongside extending their length on either side. Once completed, the expansion will allow passengers on long-distance and higher-capacity trains to board and alight seamlessly, bringing Eravipuram’s facilities on par with other major stations in the network.
As part of the passenger amenity upgrades, ten durable cement benches will be installed on each platform, accompanied by comprehensive tiling to enhance aesthetics. To bolster commuter safety and secure railway property, protective fencing will also be erected along both sides of the station grounds. Although the official contract timeline for the overall development stretches through December 2026, officials assured during the site discussions that the entire work will be completed by January 2027.
