ELECTRIC PICNIC RETURNS next weekend and the final additions to the line-up have been announced.

Crowds of 80,000 people are expected at the Co Laois festival in Stradbally Estate.

The festival begins on Friday 28 August and runs until Sunday 30 August.

Lewis Capaldi and sombr are the headline acts on Friday, while Gorillaz, CMAT and Zara Larsson are the main acts on Saturday.

Fontaines D.C. and Amble meanwhile will close the festival on Sunday.

In all, there will be some 800 performances across 50 stages in the 600-acre festival site, with fan favourite stages like Trailer Park, Croí, Salty Dog, Providencia, and Fish Town all returning.

The finishing touches were put on the line-up today with Belters Only, Damien Dempsey, Hermitage Green, The Undertones, Mick Flannery and Darren Kiely being announced.

But Electric Picnic is more than a music event, and Cork comic Kyla Cobbler joins the line-up.

Other musical acts that will perform across the weekend include Van Morrison, Skepta, Duke Dumont, Geese, The Mary Wallopers and The Saw Doctors.

Over on the comedy stage, Mario Rosenstock, Reggie Watts, Deirdre O’Kane, Vittorio Angelone, David McSavage, Bernard O’Shea and Mike Rice are among the comics.

Meanwhile, Tinie Tempah will be taking to the main stage with four Irish artists.

Last month, main stage sponsor Three Ireland opened auditions for up-and-coming musicians to join Tinie Tempah on the main stage.

There were over 2,500 entries and the four winning acts were MIMI Lane, Rian McCauley, Youngiz and Imani Jade.
