SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Yonhap) -- World No. 1 An Se-young of South Korea reached the semifinals of the world championships Friday, rediscovering her best badminton after suffering from a foot injury.

An defeated world No. 5 Han Yue of China 21-19, 21-12 at the BWF World Championships in New Delhi.

An -- who has won three medals at the worlds, gold in 2023 and bronze medals in 2022 and 2025 -- will face China's Wang Zhiyi, who is ranked third in the world.

Sidelined with a foot injury since the middle of July, An told reporters late that month that she was almost back to full health and would be ready for this month's world championships.
