Midfielder Leandro Paredes and two Argentina players have received bans and fines for their part in clashes with Spain players at the World Cup final, FIFA said on Friday.
Argentina have also been ordered to play their next two home matches behind closed doors, though one match of that sanction is suspended.
In a statement, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said it would appeal the sanctions.
AFA “will ask FIFA for the grounds for the decisions that are subject to review, in order to lodge appeals with the Appeals Committee of world football’s governing body,” the statement read.
Boca Juniors player Paredes will be banned for 10 international games and was fined US$90,000.
He grabbed Spanish player Eric García by the throat and wrestled Gavi (Pablo Martín Páez Gavira) to the ground while holding his substitute's bib, which led to an escalation in the clash between players of both sides after the final that Spain won 1-0 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19.
Paredes' Argentina teammate Nahuel Molina received a seven-match ban and must also pay a fine of US$90,000.
Albiceleste midfielder Thiago Almada and Gavi were both suspended for one match and fined US$30,000 each.
