Madonna is not the hitmaker that she was throughout the ’80s, ’90s and early aughts, but she is still regarded as the Queen of Pop and one of the most successful and respected musical artists of all time. Her latest album, Confessions II, which was released earlier this summer, proved to be both a commercial and critical win. Both fans and those in the music industry warmly welcomed the sequel to the Grammy-winning Confessions on a Dance Floor.
Confessions II shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, though it did not immediately produce an undeniable smash hit. Weeks after the project dropped, a new collaborative version of one of the full-length’s singles has become surprisingly successful in America. This frame, the joint effort surges and nearly finds its way to No. 1 on one hugely competitive roster, missing out on bringing Madonna back to the penthouse — and giving her partner an initial leader.
Madonna and Kylie Minogue Nearly Reach No. 1
A newly-shared version of “Love Sensation,” which credits both Madonna and Kylie Minogue, rises to a new high on the Digital Song Sales chart this week. Last frame, the collaboration sat at No. 5. Now, it pushes to No. 2, failing to conquer the purchase-focused ranking by only one rung.
“Love Sensation” Sold More Than 5,000 Copies
Luminate reports that “Love Sensation” sold 5,100 copies during the latest tracking period through digital download stores like iTunes, Amazon and others. That is an impressive figure for the collaboration, but it does not match the 8,000 copies that Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” managed during the same period.
That sum is enough to help the country smash hold at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart for a milestone fifteenth frame. “Choosin’ Texas” moves up on a historic list and ranks among the longest-running leaders of all time on the tally.
Kylie Minogue Reaches a Career High
“Love Sensation” helps Minogue reach a new career high on the Digital Song Sales chart. The Australian powerhouse has only placed two tracks on the roster throughout her career, and she only recently found her way into the top 10. “Padam Padam” earned Minogue her first appearance back in 2023, when the tune peaked at No. 18.
Madonna Scores Her Only No. 2-Peaking Hit
“Love Sensation” is Madonna’s only track to peak at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales ranking, and it is one of seven top 10s she has collected on the tally. Madonna has previously led the charge with “Hung Up,” “4 Minutes” with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, as well as Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” on which the Queen of Pop was featured – for a short time, at least.
Three additional cuts by the powerhouse entertainer have broken into the top 10 without soaring all the way to the summit. “Give Me All Your Luvin’” with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. and “I Feel So Free” both peaked at No. 6, while “Bring Your Love,” her team-up with Sabrina Carpenter, topped out at No. 7. The latter two are also featured on Confessions II, like “Love Sensation.”
“Love Sensation” Becme a Bigger Hit With Kylie Minogue
“Love Sensation” was released as one of the several singles from Confessions II. It followed “Bring Your Love” and “I Feel So Free,” the latter of which served as the first taste of the album and more of a promotional release. “Danceteria” has followed since then, as fans quickly selected the cut as a favorite following the album’s drop.
Madonna and Kylie Minogue Chart on Three Rankings
“Love Sensation” appears on three Billboard charts at the moment. In addition to climbing to No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales ranking, the collaboration debuts at No. 9 on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart this frame. The collaboration also holds inside the highest tier on the Dance Airplay tally, though just barely. “Love Sensation” falls from No. 3 to No. 10 after previously conquering the radio roster.
