Wild weather is causing havoc around the top of the South Island and the bottom of the North Island, leaving hundreds of homes without power.

Strong wind watches are in force for parts of Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay, with orange wind warnings across Southland and Fiordland until this afternoon.
