The fire broke out at a warehouse in the Izhor Industrial Zone. The building measures 680 by 120 meters.
The fire was assigned the fourth level of complexity. According to Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry, the area affected by the fire grew from 22,000 to 82,000 square meters within several hours. Rescuers and aircraft are working at the scene, while the cause of the fire is being established.
“Various goods and products are stored inside,” the Ministry said.
BAZA notes that a logistics center where goods were stored and received was previously located at this address.
Eyewitnesses report thick black smoke and a smell of burning that can be detected several kilometers away.
At the same time, no drone or missile threat alert was declared in the region overnight.
Astra notes that the warehouse that is on fire is located 350 meters from an Ozon warehouse.
Meanwhile, Orenburg Mayor Albert Yumadilov reported a drone attack on an Ozon warehouse, the Russian service of the BBC reports. According to him, several drones were shot down over a special economic zone where industrial enterprises are located.
“Debris fell onto the premises of the Ozon logistics complex, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished by Emergency Situations Ministry personnel,” Yumadilov wrote on his Telegram channel.
