NDR 2026: What will my family get from the new SG Child Support Package?
AI generated
SINGAPORE - A slew of new financial benefits to boost marriage and parenthood was announced during the National Day Rally 2026.
Every Singaporean child will receive around $70,000 from birth to when they reach 17, as part of a new SG Child Support Package, together with existing support.
This will be given regardless of their birth order. It replaces existing financial support through the Baby Bonus Scheme and Large Families Scheme.
The move is part of a fundamental shift by the Government in helping families - from support concentrated around the birth of a child, to consistent help for parents in raising children, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in his speech.
The Straits Times breaks down what different families could get in four possible scenarios.
How much do I receive if...
1. My child will be born on or after April 1, 2027
- $10,000 Baby Gift in two tranches within their first year
- $2,000 in Child Credits annually from age 1 to 16, starting from their age in 2026
- $5,000 First Step Grant for their Child Development Account (CDA)
- CDA Government co-matching will remain at existing amounts till Sept 30, 2027. It will be capped at $5,000 after that, regardless of birth order
- $10,000 Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) top-up in the year they turn 17
2. My child is under seven years old and still receiving the Baby Bonus Cash Gift payouts
- Your child will continue receiving Baby Bonus Cash Gift (BBCG) payouts till Mar 31, 2027. If the total BBCG amount received is less than $10,000, you will receive a top-up by Apr 30, 2027 to bring the total amount to $10,000
- $2,000 in Child Credits annually from age 1 to 16, starting from their age in 2026

- $10,000 PSEA top-up in the year they turn 17
3. We have two children; one is in primary school, and the other is in secondary school
- $2,000 in Child Credits annually till they turn 16, for each child, starting from their age in 2026
- If your younger child is 12 and below in 2027, his or her CDA will be extended to 16 years old. If your older child is 13 and older in 2027, his or her CDA would have closed by then and he or she will already be on PSEA by early 2027
- CDA Government co-matching will remain at existing amounts till Sept 30, 2027. It will be capped at $5,000 after that, regardless of birth order
- $10,000 PSEA top-up for each child in the year they turn 17
4. We have three children or more, who are all 17 years old and below
- $2,000 in Child Credits annually till they turn 16, for each child, starting from their age in 2026
- You will no longer get the additional $5,000 CDA First Step Grant and $6,000 Large Family LifeSG Credits, as these will be discontinued. The Large Family MediSave Grant is being reviewed
- If your child is 12 and below in 2027, his or her CDA will be extended to 16 years old. If your child is 13 and older in 2027, his or her CDA would have closed by then and he or she will already be on PSEA by early 2027
