The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State committee has criticised the State government for allegedly misleading unemployed youth for the past two years in the name of a job calendar and eventually issuing what it termed a “jobless calendar”.

In a statement issued on Sunday, DYFI State president Y. Ramu and State secretary G. Ramanna said nearly two lakh government posts were vacant across various departments in Andhra Pradesh, while the recently announced job calendar provided for recruitment to only 10,060 posts.

They questioned the decision to fill only 2,265 posts in the Police Department when nearly 19,996 posts of police constables were vacant. They said police constable and Sub-Inspector aspirants had been protesting for the past few days, demanding notifications for 11,639 posts, but the government had failed to increase the number of vacancies.

Referring to HRD Minister Nara Lokesh’s announcement of another District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment, the DYFI leaders said the failure to disclose the number of posts was another instance of misleading unemployed youth. They alleged that filling only 2,991 posts in the Education Department was unfair and demanded a teacher recruitment notification for 10,000 posts, including vacancies arising from retirements.

They also questioned the decision to fill only 800 Group-I and Group-II posts despite more than 5,000 vacancies and demanded recruitment to librarian posts. They pointed out that the job calendar made no mention of vacancies for Animal Husbandry Assistants.

The DYFI leaders alleged that the Special DSC notification did not include vacancies for persons with disabilities and tribal candidates and demanded that a Special DSC notification be issued immediately.

They demanded that the job calendar be revised and the number of vacancies increased. They also pointed out that more than 2,000 Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) posts were vacant and urged the government to take immediate steps to fill all vacant posts.

They warned that the DYFI would launch a State-wide agitation if the government failed to revise the job calendar and fill the vacant posts.
