Much of the country is in for a “spring-like” reprieve after a wild weekend of damaging winds, power outages, heavy rain and snow.

Most parts were expected to wake to calmer and drier conditions today, with warmer-than-average temperatures forecast for parts of the South Island.

MetService meteorologist Sophie Huntington told
