He made the statement during the Ukraine–Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) summit in Kyiv, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“As a pragmatic Finn, I have three concrete announcements today. First, air defense. We are preparing our next package, and it will meet some of Ukraine’s critical needs.”
“Secondly, there will be good news on the energy side ahead of winter, especially regarding electricity, engines, and turbines.”
“And finally, I am pleased that I have brought with me seven Finnish defense companies that have been able to start closer cooperation with their Ukrainian counterparts.”
He noted that all eight Nordic and Baltic countries were working as one team. “We are trying to coordinate our efforts to find ways to help Ukraine — whether it is air defense, drones, or other forms of cooperation,” Stubb said, noting that this had brought the countries of the region much closer together.
More than 80% of the public in the NB8 countries supports Ukraine. Stubb stressed: “We have always believed that when a big aggressor attacks a smaller player, the most important thing is the survival of the smaller player.”
He also highlighted what he considered positive news: that Ukraine today is “doing much better in handling the political, military, and financial situations.”
At the same time, he acknowledged that the existing support was insufficient and needed to continue, noting that nearly one-third of all assistance Ukraine receives comes from the NB8 countries.

““The main message of the NB8 is that we support Ukraine. We support Ukraine from the very beginning and will continue to do so for as long as it takes. Ukraine is winning this war now. And it will win it,” the Finnish leader concluded.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine celebrates National Flag Day on Sunday, August 23.
