Vietnamese EV maker VinFast is set to make a push into India’s electric mobility space with the launch of its all-electric MPV, the VF MPV7, on April 15, 2026. Positioned as a family-friendly people mover with fleet potential, the model will be sold under a dual-branding strategy aimed at tapping both private and commercial segments.

Bookings for the electric MPV are already underway, with interested buyers able to reserve the vehicle for Rs 21,000 ahead of its official debut.

Dual identity for broader appeal

In a unique approach, VinFast will market the MPV under two distinct names. Private buyers will get the VF MPV7, while fleet operators will be offered the same vehicle branded as Limo Green. This dual positioning allows the company to tailor its messaging and value proposition for different customer groups, particularly fleet aggregators and mobility service providers.

The Limo Green version is expected to play a key role in commercial applications, including ride-hailing and chauffeur-driven services, while the VF MPV7 will target families seeking a spacious electric alternative.

Rivals in the segment

The VF MPV7 will enter a niche but fast-evolving segment of three-row electric vehicles in India. It is expected to rival models like the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XEV 9S, and BYD eMax 7, all of which are aimed at combining practicality with zero-emission mobility.

Design: Function meets familiarity

Visually, the VF MPV7 carries forward VinFast’s global design language seen on models like the VinFast VF6 and VinFast VF7. It features signature LED light bars at the front and rear, vertically stacked headlamps, and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels.

Its upright, boxy proportions are clearly focused on maximising cabin space — a crucial factor for MPV buyers. The design prioritises functionality over flair, ensuring ample room for up to seven occupants.

Interior and features

Inside, the VF MPV7 adopts a clean, minimalist layout. The centrepiece is a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by a floating centre console that enhances the sense of space.

While the global-spec model does not feature a traditional instrument cluster, the India-spec version is expected to incorporate a head-up display, similar to what’s offered in the VF6 and VF7.

Key features include:

  • Automatic climate control
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Steering-mounted controls
  • 4-speaker audio system
  • ABS with EBD
  • Four airbags

The feature set suggests a focus on essential comfort and safety, rather than a tech-heavy approach.

Powertrain and range

Powering the VF MPV7 is a 60.13kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 204bhp and 280Nm of torque. This setup should provide adequate performance for both city commutes and highway runs.

The MPV offers a claimed range of 450km on the NEDC cycle. While real-world figures may vary, the range positions it competitively within its segment.

Fast-charging capabilities are also a highlight. Using an 80kW DC charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 70 percent in approximately 30 minutes, making it viable for both personal and fleet usage.

VinFast is also offering a 10-year battery warranty, a move aimed at addressing long-term reliability concerns often associated with EV ownership.

To further sweeten the deal, the company is introducing a range of ownership incentives.

These include:

  • Buyback options
  • Up to Rs 2 lakh incentive for switching to EV
  • Complimentary charging benefits

Additionally, a residual value programme guarantees 75 percent of the car’s value after two years and 55 percent after three years, a move designed to boost buyer confidence and reduce concerns around depreciation.

Charging ecosystem push

To support its EV rollout, VinFast has partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to explore the installation of EV charging infrastructure across 10,000 fuel stations nationwide.

This initiative is expected to play a critical role in improving charging accessibility and addressing range anxiety, two key barriers to EV adoption in India.
