Prime Video has long been teasing its Blade Runner 2099 series, the latest addition to the franchise that began back in 1982 with Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s 1968 sci-fi classic Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? And while its universe has expanded not just in Denis Villeneuve’s sequel film Blade Runner 2049Â but also in more novels, comics, video games, short films, and the animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus, 2099 will mark its first live-action TV show.
To go with any Blade Runner-adjacent excitement is the killer cast for this one, with the Oscar-winning Michelle Yeoh leading an ensemble that also includes Euphoria‘s Hunter Schafer, House of the Dragon‘s Matthew Needham, and Furiosa‘s Tom Burke. The show was created by Silka Luisa (Shining Girls, Halo).
Despite all the interest attached to Blade Runner 2099, Prime Video has been tight-lipped about any details; its production has taken longer than expected, in part due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. That changed today at San Diego Comic-Con, where the first real details about the show came along with Blade Runner 2099’s Hall H presentation.
Prime Video showed off the series’ first teaser and announced that the show will premiere in November.
Blade Runner 2099 will arrive on Prime Video November 25.
