But Michael Pearson, 4th Viscount Cowdray, who enjoyed the attentions of any number of beauties in his unbuttoned youth – Nigerian actress Minah Bird and Miranda Quarry, ex-wife of Peter Sellers, among them – is demonstrating that, at 82, he still has just as much tiger in his tank as 31-year-old ‘Perry’.
Perry, who already has a two-year dalliance with Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece under his belt, first bonded with actress Sophie following her divorce from American pop star Joe Jonas in 2024.
And I understand Cowdray is now roaring through the gears with another actress, one who notched up Golden Globe and Emmy nominations while starring in films alongside Sir Michael Caine and American comic genius Steve Martin – whose first wife she became.
‘Michael’s dating Victoria Tennant,’ a chum tells me, adding that Victoria, 75, who married Martin in 1986 after appearing with him in the movie All Of Me, was expected to be at Michael’s side at last Sunday’s final of the Cowdray Gold Cup, the pinnacle of the polo season, held annually on the 16,500-acre Cowdray estate in West Sussex.

But both she and Michael were noticeable by their absence – caused, I’m told, by a brace of last-minute misfortunes. ‘Over the weekend Michael fell and broke his arm, and Victoria was taken ill,’ explains the chum. ‘It was meant to have been their “coming out” as a couple.’
Cowdray declines to comment. But friends are delighted that, after a turbulent year or two, he seems to be on the verge of new-found contentment.
It was in summer 2023 that I disclosed that his second wife, Marina, had walked out after 37 years’ marriage – and five children – and found comfort with her chiropractor. Friends described the split as ‘highly acrimonious’.
Things seemed perkier last year when, as I revealed, Michael enjoyed a blossoming friendship with Philippa Devas, a glamorous blonde 17 years his junior, who, in her professional life, straddled the worlds of interior design and psychotherapy.
That relationship failed to go the distance, so let’s hope that Michael has better luck with Victoria. There could, perhaps, be a little grit in the engine. Victoria appears still to be married to her third husband, US lawyer Kirk Stambler, with whom she has two children. He does not respond to my inquiries.

She and her husband, Ben Andersen, speak from experience. After restoring a West London pub, The Latimer, the couple they took on to run it were woken at 6am by council officers.
‘A woman had said, falsely, they hadn’t got a resident’s parking permit,’ Kirstie snorts. ‘It was extraordinary.’

‘They tried to resuscitate him... he passed away. I can’t begin to imagine what the poor boy’s family are thinking and feeling.
‘Be really mindful of currents [when] going into the sea.’
Bernie Ecclestone’s son-in-law, Sam Palmer, has admitted that he feeds his children’s friends lactose and gluten products even when their parents have told him they have an intolerance.

Suki Waterhouse, who performed on stage in Los Angeles this week, has lived in the US for the last few years with her Hollywood star fiance Robert Pattinson. But the singer and actress, 34, admits that she struggles to see herself settling there long term.
‘I know I will return to London at some point and probably end up living somewhere near where I grew up,’ explains Suki, who was raised in Chiswick and has a two-year-old daughter with The Batman star, 40, who also grew up in west London.
‘I’m aware that the season of life I’m in right now is fleeting,’ Suki adds. ‘Like, you’ve got a young baby; you’re able to move around a lot. Both me and my partner have a lot going on in our lives.
‘But I look towards the future, knowing this moment’s fleeting, and think I’ll go back and live by the River Thames.’
