Pagasa: Expect heavy rains over Luzon Saturday afternoon due to habagat

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rain is expected to prevail over parts of Luzon on Saturday afternoon, July 25, due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed Zambales, Bataan, and Tarlac under yellow warning at 2 p.m, which forecast 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall in the next hours.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains is expected over the following areas within the next 3 hours, according to the weather bureau:

  • Pampanga
  • Cavite
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Quezon

Earlier, Pagasa reported that the southwest monsoon is likely to bring gloomy skies with scattered to isolated rains over Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, while typhoon Kiyapo affects Northern Luzon. /jpv
