Firefighters battle house fire in Wellington suburb

Firefighters are battling a house fire in the Wellington suburb of Brooklyn.

FENZ confirmed trucks had arrived on Saturday night at the blaze near Laura Ave.

RNZ reporter Penny Smith said there was a large turnout of emergency services with at least five firetrucks and a couple of police cars at the scene.

She said the blaze appeared to be on the corner of Tanera Cres and Laura Ave.

The road was blocked and there was a significant amount of smoke, she said.
