The Adyar police have registered a case against Kayalvizhi, daughter of former Union Minister M.K. Alagiri, following a complaint by a senior State Bank of India (SBI) official alleging that the manager of the bank’s NRI branch in Adyar was assaulted and threatened by the owner of the building housing the branch.
According to the complaint lodged on July 21 by Namachivayam, Chief Manager, SBI Regional Business Office-II, Adyar SBI NRI Branch Manager Harsheen Singh had informed the building owner, Kayalvizhi Alagiri, about the need to rectify a faulty lift after her representative allegedly failed to respond to repeated requests.
The complaint alleged that an aggrieved Ms. Kayalvizhi subsequently visited the branch, abused the manager, assaulted him and issued threats.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under sections- 296(b)(Uttering Obscene words) 329(4)(Penalty to house trespass), 115(2)(Voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2)(Criminal Intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is on.
