Webtoon and Dark Horse Comics deepened their relationship in June last year, with Dark Horse bringing five major franchises — The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, to name a few — to the digital comic platform. One such franchise was Critical Role, with Dark Horse bringing Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins, where Critters got the chance to revisit the origins of Campaign 2's mighty adventurers in a newly reformatted vertical-scroll edition.

Now, as revealed during Webtoon's entertainment panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, even more Critical Role is heading to the platform. Namely, Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins, the acclaimed prequel comic series that follows a time before Vox Machina's mightiest heroes were a team.

The official synopsis for the comic series can be read below:

A mysterious curse plagues the coastal town of Stillben. Six would-be heroes traveling different roads meet, fight each other—then fight together—as they uncover a plot to destroy the city (and possibly themselves)! Meet Vox Machina. One day they'll save the world. Eventually.

This marks the second Critical Role title to launch on Webtoon, a win for any Critter out there who wants to read more stories from Exandria on a platform where mobile-reading comes first and foremost.

The tales of the legendary group Vox Machina have been told in a variety of different ways, such as the original actual-play Dungeons & Dragons campaign from Geek & Sundry, and then Critical Role, as well as Prime Video's animated adaptation. Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins will launch on Webtoons with the first three episodes for free on August 4, 2026. Overall, there will be 56 episodes per season, with 5 Fast Pass episodes also available via Webtoon's Fast Pass, which can be purchased with Webtoon Coins.
